Challenge

While every business was hit hard by the pandemic, casinos and restaurants faced some of the biggest challenges. Tachi Palace Casino Resort, operating in Lemoore, Calif., by the Tachi Yokut tribe, searched for any sanitizer it could get its hands on — and bought in bulk.

“We had every type of container you can imagine, ranging from portable bottles on desks to wall-hung units we made, along with every kind of signage you can imagine,” Facilities Manager James Silveira said.

But all those dispensers not only worked against the facility’s upscale look, but the sanitizer itself did not have a pleasing scent. Because dispensers routinely spurted out more than necessary, customers often clap their hands, and residue would land on walls and machines. Soon the maintenance team found peeling paint and damaged electronic keypads. The associates even suspected the sanitizer was damaging chairs because guests rubbed off the excess and caused the high-end material to crack.

“We just completed a major renovation with high-quality furniture, so we didn’t want to shorten the material’s lifespan via excess sanitizer dispensed by our current dispensers,” Silveira said.

Tachi Palace knew they needed to look for alternatives.

When the pandemic eased, the tribe was deep into a sweeping renovation of the entire facility. A better hand-sanitizing solution needed to be found — one people would love and that fit into Tachi Palace’s new aesthetics.

Solution

After Silveira got approval from his director at the trade show, the facility placed its first order for 20 Vaask fixtures, and Tachi Palace couldn’t be happier.

“We were looking for durable, uniform dispensers that would fit into our resort look and feel, and Vaask delivered,” Silveira said.

Tachi Palace has installed Vaask fixtures in high-traffic areas, including its hotel lobby, elevators and escalators, and new sports bar. Silveira said that from a maintenance perspective, Vaask provides convenience, usability, and ease of operation. The dispensers’ installation proved simple and quick, and the Vaask team was easy to reach when a question arose.

With Vaask’s fixture, precisely the right amount of gel is dispensed, so there’s no more damage to the furnishings. And Silveira said he’d heard nothing but positive feedback from guests and other associates about the fixtures.

After experiencing Vaask’s quality in both product and service, Silveira plans to install more units at Tachi Palace soon — everywhere from conference rooms to banquet rooms and all bars. The tribe is very selective in choosing whom to do business with, as they want built-to-last products that match their vision for the resort to be around and generate income for their descendants for generations to come.

“We want good service because we’re a 24/7 operation, and our clientele isn’t always easy on our products,” Silveira said. “We must have durable products that are long-lasting with  great service. Vaask has hit the mark.”
